LOVE FOR THE VINEYARD

We conceive each of our wines with the vineyard as the starting point. We work with old vines with different heights, orientations and soil compositions in order to reflect the different personalities of the area.
Over the years we have located a series of plots with a singular personality that give name to our wines. Each wine is made with grapes from this plot and other from the area that complement and adds nuances to it, but the singular character of the vineyard from which it takes its name always prevails.

SAN ROQUE

The plot, which we call San Roque because it has the ruins of an ancient hermitage dedicated to this saint, is located at 630 meters above sea level, with a N/S orientation, on top of a hill. These characteristics allow the winds to clean the vineyard and provide grapes with excellent freshness and acidity.
From this vineyard, combined with other vines up to 26 years old, we make a young wine that shows the freshest expression of what we consider to be a Rioja wine.

LA ENCINA

From the halls of our winery, it is possible to see this vineyard which is located in the heart of the Riojan Sonsierra and takes its name from two oaks that are located in its surroundings. It is a plot close to half a century old with an interesting depth of soil and excellent sunshine, all of this makes it possible for us to have, year after year, an optimum level of ripening and also allow us to produce a wine full of nuances.
Combined with other vines that complete its mature and round character, we produce a wine with 12 months of aging that goes far beyond the ‘Crianza’ category to which it belongs.

LAS ARENAS

This is a plot of 0.41 hectares, planted in 1941, with very poor, deep soil and a high proportion of limestone. This is combined with good exposure to both the sun and the north winds, which favors a slow and long ripening.
From this vineyard, combined with a series of other vineyards that reach 90 years of age, located on the slopes of Sierra Cantabria, we make our longest-lived wine with which we seek to show the extraordinary aging capacity that Rioja wines have historically demonstrated.
